Are You Licensed?

Yes! Our license number is 0015HHN. Effective October 1, 2022 all agencies in the State of Ohio that provide non-medical home care services are required to be licensed. Additionally, Home Helpers adheres to strict guidelines regarding information disclosure, background checks, the training and supervision of caregivers, plan of care documentation and service standards, among other procedures. We take our clients’ care very seriously and do everything we can to ensure their safety and comfort.

What Makes Home Helpers Different?

  • We're here 24/7. Our Caregivers, staff and owners are accessible to clients, family members and caregivers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Home Helpers Caregivers are employees of Home Helpers - they're not freelancers.
  • We (and all of our Caregivers) are insured.
  • We will take the time to find the best Caregiver based on your requirements. She/he will have both the skills to perform the required duties and the personality that will make them a welcome visitor in your home.
  • We will strive to have a backup Caregiver available in case the primary Caregiver is sick or cannot make it.
  • You will always have the final say as to the care plan.
  • We will keep all information confidential and respect your privacy.

I've Never Had a Caregiver. How Does It Work?

Our Caregivers are here for you so you can remain independent in your home. We will develop a care plan together. The Caregivers will carry out the plan. The types of questions we'll ask in order to develop the care plan include: Will your Caregiver be preparing meals, taking you to appointments, doing light housework or simply providing companionship? It’s up to you and it can change whenever you like!

What Happens If I Don't Like My Caregiver?

Although we strive for a perfect fit every time, there are situations where the Client/Caregiver relationship fails to develop as expected. You can request a different Caregiver at any time.

Do I Have to Commit to a Certain Number of Hours?

No. You can utilize our Exceptional Caregivers 1 hour per month or 24 hours a day. You can have a Caregiver 30 hours this week and 10 hours next week. It’s all up to you. We are very flexible. Of course, to retain the same Caregiver, it is always better to have a regular schedule. Sometimes rates can change based upon your schedule - your rates might even go down as your service increases.

Will I Have the Same Caregiver on a Regular Basis?

Generally, as long as you maintain a consistent schedule, you will have the same Caregiver or Caregivers.

Do You Serve Retirement Communities, Nursing Homes, and Assisted Living Facilities?

Absolutely! Home Helpers can place Exceptional Caregivers in retirement communities, assisted living, rehab centers and memory care facilities as well as in private homes. We provide home care services wherever home may be.

I May Need Help Preparing Meals. Will I Need to Feed My Caregiver, Too?

No, our Caregivers bring their own snacks and meals. Our Caregivers often become regarded as a family member and many clients do share food or a meal with their Caregivers from time to time--but it's the client's choice to do so, not a requirement.

Do You Provide Live-In Caregivers?

Yes, in addition to our Caregivers who come and go based your daily needs, we have Caregivers who can live in your home 24 hours a day. Or, depending on your preferences, a team of Caregivers can make sure you are covered 24/7.

Do I Pay My Caregiver Directly?

No. Your Caregiver is a Home Helpers employee and we are solely responsible for paying for their services. We also pay all payroll taxes, unemployment insurance and Workers Compensation insurance. You simply pay Home Helpers for services provided.

How Often Will You Bill Me?

We will bill you weekly. You can pay via automatic account withdrawal or credit card. If you have long-term care insurance, we will submit claims on your behalf.

What Does It Cost to Have You Come to My House for an Introductory Meeting?

There is never a charge for an initial meeting. It is important for you to meet us face to face so you can feel confident in our ability to provide care for you or your loved one, and we're happy to do that. It's also important for us to see your home environment to make sure it is safe and comfortable for your and your caregiver. We're also happy to provide a free, 100-point home safety assessment any time you like.

Steps to Care

    Initial Call Once we’ve received your information, we will have a detailed call to gather more information on the care situation, answer any pressing concerns, and set up a time to meet in person.

    In-home Care Assessment Here we will answer all your questions, and ask some of our own to craft a Cared-4Customized Care Plan to your unique needs.
  3. 3.
    Start of Care We will come with our Caregiver on the first day of care to go through the Care Plan together and help with introductions.
  4. 4.
    Client Visits Once we have begun care, we will pop in at times our Caregiver is there to see how things are going and determine if we need to adjust the Care Plan.
