Determining the Cost of Care

The Different Factors to Consider

When seeking in-home health for you or a loved one, the cost is certainly something that is on the top of your mind. At Home Helpers® Home Care, we want to be open and transparent with our prospective clients so that they know exactly what to expect from our services. Overall, in-home care is a far more affordable choice than other options.

The overall cost is dependent on a variety of factors. Though no two situations are the same, the general home care service cost ranges from $25 - $40 an hour, depending on location and care needs. Home Helpers Home Care develops care plans based on your unique needs.

  • The factors that will determine your exact cost include:
  • Where you live
  • Level of care required
  • Amount of care needed (frequency, number of hours, hourly versus 24 hour caregiver)
  • Level of specialization required

A more exact cost will be calculated following your free In-Home Care Assessment, where we will discuss all of the above factors and explain how we can assist you or your family member. Together we will be able to determine a weekly or monthly cost.

The Most Preferred & Affordable Option

It’s probably not all that surprising that AARP studies show that 90% of people over the age of 65 would prefer to stay in their homes, even when they require support or assistance, as opposed to going to an assisted living facility or nursing home. Home Helpers Home Care is here to help make sure they can “age in place” comfortably, safely, and happily.

The issue for many clients isn’t whether or not they want to age in the home they’ve built, cared for, furnished, and feel comfortable in. The primary issue is whether or not they can do so safely and securely, especially if they live alone. Our home care services can be an affordable solution as more help is needed around the house.

Comparing In-Home Care to Other Options

Below you will find the costs associated with other long-term and elder care options, according to the 2021 Cost of Care Survey conducted by Genworth.

Adult Day Health Care $1,690 per month
Assisted Living Facility $4,500 per month
Nursing Home Care $7,908 per month (semi-private room)
$9,034 per month (private room)
  • Adult Day Healthcare facilities often are designed to provide transitional care and short-term rehabilitation after a hospital stay. This non-residential care offers a professionally staffed group setting and supports nutritional, health, social, and daily living needs.
  • Assisted Living Facilities provide housing and limited care for elderly who only require some assistance with their daily activities, including getting dressed, eating, bathing, and meal preparation. These facilities do not offer extensive care that you would find in a nursing home.
  • Nursing Homes provide the most extensive care of the three options. They are staffed by medical professionals and are often set up similar to hospitals. They offer clients physical, speech, and occupational therapies.
