Caregiver Resources

Taking Care of Yourself While Caring for Others

In the United States, nearly half of people provide care for either their children or for aging parents – and in some cases both. You might be at a time where it is important to provide your loved one with additional care, assistance, or emotional support. As a family caregiver you may need assistance to help with the everyday.

At Home Helpers® Home Care, we offer a wide variety of caregiver resources to help make providing care a bit easier. Whether you’re a family caregiver or a professional, here are some helpful resources to assist you in taking care of your loved one as well as yourself. We offer guides, checklists, how-to’s, and much more.

You can also check out our blog for access to even more information.

There are few more satisfying experiences than helping someone in need. Empathy and compassion are what bonds most of us together. The Home Helpers Home Care team wants to help you as much as we can. Your decision to “give care” to others may not receive as much thanks or acknowledgment as it should, but it certainly won’t go unappreciated.

Signs of Caregiver Stress

Caregivers give so much of themselves to those they are caring for, they sometimes forget to focus on themselves. If you’re a Caregiver who is feeling unappreciated or stressed, you must step back and take note if you exhibit any of the following:

  • Feelings of fatigue
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Irritability
  • New or worsening health problems
  • Drinking, smoking, or eating more
  • Lack of attention to detail

If you are showing any signs of the above, recognizing them is the first step. It’s so important to yourself as well as the person you are caring for that you address these problems and seek assistance. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed!

Additional Steps to Take

If you’re experiencing any signs of Caregiver stress, continue to observe your situation to see where and how you can take control. There will certainly be some things you can’t change, and those are the things you should accept and not spend time, energy, or emotion trying to change. Be sure to take advantage of the resources provided above. Whether you’re a family caretaker or a professional Home Helpers Home Care Caregiver, no one is immune from getting run-down. We are always here to support you throughout your journey.
