February is Senior Center month. In 2017, the theme for this celebration is: "Senior Centers: Experts at Living Well".
In a recent survey conducted by the Enfield Senior Center, 82% of participants reported that they have more social outlets and friends since coming to the Enfield Senior Center. And 85% say they have a more positive outlook since attending.
The majority of the participants in the survey also stated that they feel healthier, happier and satisfied. They said that the center helps them to learn new things and that they "have more to look forward to." The survey was completed by 194 senior center participants. Areas of measurement included: activities, facility and grounds, programs, staffing and personal benefit.
“Seeing people more frequently, joining activities, and connecting with others can benefit you,” says Susan Lather, the Enfield Senior Center director.
In a report publish on February 8th, the Hartford Courant calls attention to changes that Senior Centers have been going through, with a higher focus on physical activities, ranging from boxing to zumba and personal assistance at the gym.
The Enfield Senior Center provides social, physical, educational, and recreational opportunities to enrich the mind, body, and spirit of older adults in an open and accepting atmosphere. Around 700 people go to the center each day.
