Home Helpers – A Great Place to Work!
Third party endorsements of Home Helpers, such as being awarded the Best Place to Work by the Caregiver Choice Awards are certainly an honor, but more important are the comments coming directly from our care staff themselves. We feel strongly that our employees are our top asset, as they set our reputation with our clients with their performance on every shift of every day. The feedback we receive from our Caregivers, and often witnessed directly by our customers as well, is the tremendous support they receive from their employer. Our office is available 24.7 and during the weekdays, our team of nurses stands ready to support our care staff with training needs, changes in client conditions, basic care questions, issues that might arise with families, and so on. Our office staff is readily available to assist our Caregivers with customer service and scheduling needs, administrative questions and even sensitive matters that might be presented to one of our social workers. The bottom line is that we care deeply about our employees’ wellbeing and satisfaction, and it shows in how they are treated from interview to employment.
By way of example, below are some testimonials from Caregivers of Home Helpers.
I joined Home Helpers when I was an undergraduate student in college, studying exercise science, leading to my Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). I am now in my fourth year as a licensed PT, practicing in Manhattan for the largest practice in that market. What I gained from the experience was having the opportunity to learn, firsthand, about healing, disease processes (ALS and Parkinson’s immediately come to mind), dementia and other conditions, before I was clinically responsible for my patients. I was able to hone my listening skills and bedside manner, and present empathy in every situation, a skill I use daily in my career. I am so grateful for the experience I gained as a Caregiver for Home Helpers.
Brian E. (North Wales)
Home Helpers introduced me to an aspect of healthcare that I do not have the chance to be exposed to in my nursing program. While I do not plan to work with the patient population in my career as a nurse, the experience as a caregiver for Home Helpers has been invaluable to me. Through my employment, I was able to strengthen both my patient and inter professional communication as well as learn clinical skills that I will take with me in my career. Home Helpers was also very flexible with my schedules. This greatly minimized stress from the workload and allowed time for my studies and for myself. Home Helpers is a fantastic organization for anyone looking to gain experience in healthcare.
