But for most of our offices, the lion’s share of the business is helping seniors live independently – and safely – in the comfort of the home where they feel most comfortable. It’s where memories were made, they know where everything is located and, quite simply, “there’s no place like home.” Our company vision is to be the extended family when the family can’t be there so you or your loved one is cared for and supported.

- Devices and monitoring services from Direct Link® You or a loved one can always find “help at the touch of a button” with our exclusive line of Direct Link Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) devices. These devices are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Keep in mind that falls are the leading cause of injury for Americans age 65 and over each year. Many Direct Link devices are equipped with a fall detector so help can be dispatched immediately, even if the senior is incapacitated as a result.
- Companion Care to keep seniors active and socially engaged For many families, it’s challenging in their busy lives to visit senior loved ones as much as they’d like, or, as is often the case, the family lives too far away. Companionship Care doesn’t mean just helping with transportation or light housekeeping, it means spending time with seniors to play games, help with hobbies and even connecting with family and friends through social media.
- 24-hour Care when needed Sometimes more extensive care is needed throughout the course of the day. It could be following surgery or for other reasons, but when it’s needed, it’s nice to know that a Home Helpers Home Care Exceptional Caregiver is always available to meet those needs.
Of course, before you can take any of the steps above, a decision has to be made to explore the possibility of in-home care. While many families dread having this conversation, it’s been my experience that, with a little help, this process can be an engaging exercise that actually brings families closer together.
That begins by making sure the whole family is involved – not with a pre-conceived idea about the result, but with open attitudes and an agreement to listen to all viewpoints. Keep in mind that everyone wants the same result, which is to make sure the senior loved one’s needs are being met, they’re happy and they’re safe.
